so, i finally have someone to sublease my apartment and i'm super happy to not have to worry about that for a while. hopefully they will stay until next july and all will be good.

things are picking up as far as advising goes. i've had a bunch of new student conferences this week, the phone rings off the hook, people email me like crazy, and stop in too. it's mostly pretty fun, but totally scary at the same time. if i give them wrong information and they don't graduate...big trouble for kate. yikes!

stuff with other job is just buck wild. i'm a graduate hall director and found out my supervisor is resigning at the end of this month. they might not be replacing her, so i would be lone res life person. this is certainly a job i can do (since i have a bunch of times) but i just won't have a lot of time to pick up the slack with another assistantship and 2 classes next fall (both of which will probably kick my ass). so, that's a little stressful. i'm hoping if i am the only one that i can wrangle a bigger apartment or more money or both.

i've incorporated working out into my schedule lately and i'm starting to see some results. that keeps me motivated to stick with it. it's actually surprisingly fun to see that i'm making progress.

other than that stuff, i'm guessing the rest of the summer will be quite busy. i'm heading home in early august. hoping i find some money laying around so i can visit mike in vegas while he's there. and then RAs will be back and training will start, people are moving, and classes start. this summer is going way too fast!

oh---and i went to the dentist yesterday and now i'm just a Yank instead of a snaggly-toothed Yank. woo!

i had a great saturday. my friend wes is going to move to nashville this week to become a famous music producer guy, so to send him off properly, a group of us went toobing on the river. it was so much fun! we rented toobs and stuff from rockin' r river rides and drank beers and enjoyed a hot sunny texas day. i'm a little bit sunburned still, but maybe will finally not have legs so white they blind people in a 20 mile radius. check out rockin' r's site if you want: http://www.rockinr.com/.

so, why am i not a girl gone wild? well, on the bus ride from where we ended on the river back to where our vehicles were, there was a guy who had jello shots and gave one to my friend brett. i asked stranger guy if i could also have one, to which he replied that i could have one if i showed my 'na-nas'. i decided that a jello shot was not worth the indignity, so i was not a girl gone wild. i was also pissed about the double standard, but got over it quickly after i exited the bus and injured my toe! i was briefly convinced that i would not have received said injury if he had just given me the jello shot without contention, but in retrospect, that is difficult to say for sure.

i'm still feeling kind of wiped out from not getting a lot of sleep and then being in the sun drinking beers, so i'm a little tired today. plan on working for the rest of the afternoon and then either laying on my couch or moving more furniture into my new place. couch is sounding better by the minute.
